Myth: "The Doctor Fixes Everything"

I was listening to The Doctor's Farmacy by @drmarkhyman the other day and he said the mindset that "the doctor fixes everything" simply needs to end. This was so profound and we needed to share it.

Our conventional healthcare system in the US right now does a lot for us but it is unfortunately not setup to help us heal our lifestyle-related illness or symptoms. Instead, it focuses on symptom management (which obviously has its place, but it doesn't address the root cause).

When it comes down to it, WE are the ones who need to put in the work to help ourselves heal. It's not up to our doctors...and we cannot rely on medications/drugs to do the job when it comes to lifestyle-related issues.

The mindset of "the doctor will fix it" is a reactive way of thinking. It's like waiting until we see problems arise and then assume a magic pill will "fix it".

According to @drmarkhyman, 88% of Americans are dealing with at least 1 biomarker of metabolic dysfunction (obesity, high blood pressure, high blood triglycerides, low levels of HDL cholesterol and insulin resistance *all lifestyle-related illnesses)...this stuff is UP TO US to change!

OUR DOCTORS ARE INCREDIBLE & WE NEED THEM, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY WE NEED TO BE IN THE DRIVERS SEAT WHEN IT COMES TO OUR HEALTH.

What are you doing on a daily basis outside of your doctor's appointments to help improve your symptoms?

What are your habits?
What are you eating?
What are you drinking?
How are you moving your body?
How are you managing stress?
How are you sleeping?

WE ALL need to do the work.

The work = improving on our diet, lifestyle, exercise routine
The work = improving our habits
The work = switching to a positive & grattitude mindset
The work = being strategic with what we invest our money in (groceries, self care products, etc)
The work = surrounding ourselves with people who bring us joy

We can go on and on and on...

What are YOU doing before and after your doctor's appointments? Are you being proactive or reactive about your health? 🤍🤍
